Description
P1858 Marine Artillery Sword bayonet. According to Skennerton BCB163 Very much like other P1856 type bayonets these can be differentiated by the larger than normal MRID of 21mm (actual measured example was 21.3mm) Originally designated P1858 the nomenclature was changed to the noun nomenclature "MARINE ARTILLERY SWORD BAYONET" Skennerton's description of these is a bit murky but he alludes to the modified pommel without stating what the actual modification was. Blade remains unsharpened and grips are solid and tight.
