Description
P1853/58 triform socket bayonet with scabbard. Pattern of 1861. Scabbard is US CW type and there are no British marks on the bayonet. I believe this was a commercially made piece sold to one of the sides in the American Civil War. There is a small star on the socket's collar and a letter B on the ricasso. On the back end of the socket there is a T.C. stamp that looks very much like Union inspection to me but I do not claim to be an expert in this area. Scabbard and frog are disintegrating relics.
