Description
M1907 Double Edged bayonet with scabbard. Has Stag horn replacement grips. Blade has been sharpened and has pronounced grinding striations along the edges but is not completely mauled up. Scabbard retains about 50% of its original black paint finish. Nearly identical to the Portuguese M1904 except for the blade being double edged. ID is based on the photograph in Vial's New ABC reference. Janzen and Keisling show a different bayonet in their drawings. Double edged blade is hollow ground. Short T/O mortise slot in pommel with clearing holes in the grips. Grips retained with domed rivets in washers. The only mark is on the butt of the pommel and seems to be an indeterminable German Fraktur letter under a crown which might suggest these were produced by Simson & Co. who also made the Portuguese bayonets with the same hilt. This bayonet mounts perfectly on the Portuguese M1904 rifle as well as the Siamese T45/T66 rifle.
